Anna

Anna was a non-commercial artist-run space located at Grohgasse 10 in Vienna’s 5th district. It was organized by Norbert Pfaffenbichler and Andrés Ramírez Gaviria. Anna was an offshoot of Sigmund, a predecessor artist-run space in Vienna that Pfaffenbichler and Gaviria, together with Franz Gebetsberger, ran between 2014 and 2017. Following the same curatorial strategy that was employed in Sigmund, namely, “free association,” a therapeutic procedure developed by Dr. Sigmund Freud, this new creative space was named Anna to honor Sigmund Freud’s daughter, Anna Freud.
